The Michigan Liquor Control Code was amended on July 2, 2013 to allow Class C and other on-premises licensees to fill and sell growlers to consumers for take-out. Prior to this amendment, only licensed brewers, micro brewers and brewpubs were allowed to fill and sell growlers. The new legislation allows an on-premises
licensee that also holds a Specially Designated Merchant (“SDM”) license to fill growlers and sell to consumers for consumption off the premises, or take-out sales.
